How are the fjords formed? Why do they constitute some of the most picturesque areas of the world?

A fjord is a long, narrow, steep-sided coastal inlet formed by the submergence of a deep, glaciated U-shaped valley flooded by the sea. They are found predominantly in high-latitude, glaciated coastal regions such as Norway, Greenland, Chile, New Zealand, Canada, and Alaska.
Geomorphological Formation of Fjords
