Consider the following statements in respect of the 32nd Summer Olympics:
1. The official motto for this Olympics is ‘A New World’.
2. Sport Climbing, Surfing, Skateboarding, Karate and Baseball are included in this Olympics.
Which of the above statements is/are correct?
Explanation
Statement 1 is incorrect: The official Games motto for the 32nd Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games was ’United by Emotion’. ‘A New World’ (Um Mundo Novo) was the official slogan of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games.
Statement 2 is correct: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) introduced five new and returning sports into the Tokyo 2020 Olympic programme to appeal to younger audiences: Sport Climbing, Surfing, Skateboarding, Karate, and Baseball/Softball.
Hence, only statement 2 is correct — Option B.
