The Government of India has set up 4 Delimitation Commissions so far:

1. 1952 (Act of 1952)
2. 1963 (Act of 1962)
3. 1973 (Act of 1972)
4. 2002 (Act of 2002 — Chaired by Justice Kuldip Singh)

Key Facts (Delimitation Commission):

• Constitutional Articles: Article 82 (Lok Sabha) and Article 170 (State Assemblies).
• Appointment: By the President of India.
• Immunity: Orders cannot be challenged in any court of law once published in the Gazette.
• Seat Freeze: Total seats frozen till the first census after 2026 (via the 84th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2001).
