Bhagavad Gita 1.25

भीष्मद्रोणप्रमुखतः सर्वेषां च महीक्षिताम् ।
उवाच पार्थ पश्यैतान्समवेतान्कुरूनिति ॥

In the presence of Bhishma, Drona, and the other kings, Krishna said to Arjuna, “O Partha, behold these Kurus gathered here.”

After placing the chariot between the two armies, Krishna directs Arjuna’s attention toward the warriors assembled on the battlefield. He specifically points out figures such as Bhishma and Drona, along with the many kings who have gathered for the conflict. These individuals are not strangers to Arjuna; many of them are his elders, teachers, or relatives. By asking Arjuna to look at them closely, Krishna brings the personal dimension of the war into full view. This moment deepens the gravity of the situation, as Arjuna begins to realize that the battle involves people with whom he shares long-standing relationships.

Administrative Reflections

This verse highlights how decisions often become more complex when personal relationships intersect with duty. Arjuna is not facing anonymous opponents; he is confronted with people who have played important roles in his life. In public leadership and administration, similar situations may arise where personal connections intersect with professional responsibilities. Ethical decision-making requires the ability to recognize these emotions while still remaining committed to one’s duty and principles. Maintaining objectivity in such circumstances is difficult but essential for responsible leadership.
