Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1, Verse 43
नरके नियतं वासो भवतीत्यनुशुश्रुम ॥ ४३ ॥
manuṣyāṇāṁ janārdana
narake niyataṁ vāso
bhavatīty anuśuśruma
Arjuna continues explaining the consequences of family destruction. He argues that when kula-dharma, the traditional duties and values of a family, are lost, the moral foundation of society weakens. According to the teachings he has heard from elders and scriptures, such destruction leads to serious spiritual and social consequences.
Arjuna believes that when families lose their guiding traditions, individuals no longer have a stable framework for ethical conduct. As a result, both the family and those responsible for its destruction suffer long-term consequences.
This verse highlights the importance of preserving the ethical traditions and institutional structures that guide society. When these frameworks collapse, individuals and communities may lose the principles that regulate conduct and responsibility.
In governance and public leadership, protecting the systems that sustain social order and moral discipline becomes essential for maintaining long-term stability and cohesion.
